#48: Cultural Heritage

February 10, 2023

The preservation of cultural heritage is crucial for maintaining national identity and fostering a sense of belonging. Armenia's cultural heritage, dating back to prehistoric times, presents a significant impact on the tourism industry and local economy, as well as increasing importance as a soft power tool in the international arena. However, improved heritage management practices are needed to ensure the sustainable safeguarding and dissemination of cultural heritage, as state institutions and their staff often lack funding and qualifications. The loss of monuments, historical objects, and museum collections during the Artsakh War highlights the urgency of improved cataloging and preservation methods, such as digital recording. PechaKucha Night Yerevan will present educational strategies, funding schemes, and expert initiatives aimed at promoting meaningful engagement with the Armenian cultural heritage.

The event is organized in partnership with Kiraki Development Foundation with financial support from the European Union in Armenia.
